eBay fee calculator (October 2026)

Enter the sale price and what you paid. You'll see eBay's fees, what lands in your account, your profit, the most you can pay for the item and the lowest price to list at for the profit you want. Runs in your browser; nothing is saved.

Some platforms charge their percentage on the sales tax too (eBay, Depop, Facebook, Reverb and Etsy's processing fee), so adding the buyer's tax rate makes those fees exact. The tax itself passes through to the state and is not in your payout.

PlatformFeesFee %PayoutProfitMax buy priceList at least

Payout = sale price + buyer-paid shipping − platform fees. Profit = payout − your shipping label − item cost − other costs. Max buy price = the most you can pay for the item and still make your target profit. List at least = the lowest sale price that still makes your target profit at this item cost.

How eBay fees work

13.6% of the total sale (item + shipping + sales tax) up to $7,500, then 2.35% above that, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 if the order is $10 or less). Most categories, no eBay Store.

Some categories (sneakers over $150, trading cards, guitars, heavy equipment) and eBay Store plans use different rates. Promoted Listings add their ad rate on top.

US sellers, standard categories, as of October 2026. Fees change: check eBay's official fee page before you price. Estimates only; not financial or tax advice. FlipperStack is not affiliated with eBay.

Questions

How much does eBay take from a sale?

13.6% of the total sale (item + shipping + sales tax) up to $7,500, then 2.35% above that, plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 if the order is $10 or less). Most categories, no eBay Store. Example: on a $50 item with $8 buyer-paid shipping and no sales tax, eBay keeps about $8.29 and you receive $49.71.

Does eBay charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The fee is worked out on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays.

What is the most I should pay for an item to resell on eBay?

Work backwards from the sale price: payout after fees, minus your shipping label, packaging and other costs, minus the profit you want. The calculator above shows this as the max buy price. Pay more than that and the flip misses your target.

Are these eBay fees current?

They match eBay's published fee page as of October 2026 for US sellers in standard categories. Fees change, so check eBay's fee page before you price.
